چکیده
We explore the role a non-Markovian memory kernel plays on information exchange and entropy production in context of external work protocol. The Jarzynski equality is shown to hold for both harmonic nonharmonic models. observe function acts as an pump, recovering part lost thermal reservoir consequence nonequilibrium pumping action occurs cases. Unexpectedly, we found that model does not produce entropy, regardless presence even small amount nonlinearity recovers more normal producing behavior, out-of-equilibrium protocols.

We show a practical application of an well-known nonequilibrium relation, the Jarzynski equality, in quantum computation. Its implementation may open a way to solve combinatorial optimization problems, minimization of a real single-valued function, cost function, with many arguments. It has been disclosed that the ordinary quantum computational algorithm to solve a kind of hard optimization pro...
متن کاملNon-equilibrium dynamics of gene expression and the Jarzynski equality
In order to express specific genes at the right time, the transcription of genes is regulated by the presence and absence of transcription factor molecules. With transcription factor concentrations undergoing constant changes, gene transcription takes place out of equilibrium. In this paper we discuss a simple mapping between dynamic models of gene expression and stochastic systems driven out o...
متن کاملThe glass transition and the Jarzynski equality.
A simple model featuring a double well potential is used to represent a liquid that is quenched from an ergodic state into a history-dependent glassy state. Issues surrounding the application of the Jarzynski equality to glass formation are investigated. We demonstrate that the Jarzynski equality gives the free energy difference between the initial state and the state we would obtain if the gla...
متن کاملJarzynski equality for quantum stochastic maps.
Jarzynski equality and related fluctuation theorems can be formulated for various setups. Such an equality was recently derived for nonunitary quantum evolutions described by unital quantum operations, i.e., for completely positive, trace-preserving maps, which preserve the maximally mixed state. We analyze here a more general case of arbitrary quantum operations on finite systems and derive th...
